Drywall Tape Type Compatibility

When starting out with automatic drywall taping tools, it’s important to know about not only the tools themselves but the materials compatible with their use. Here is a short explanation to compatible drywall tape types for auto tapers.

Compatible Drywall Tape Types

Some of the most common questions finishers ask us before ordering their LEVEL5 auto tapers are, “What types of drywall tape can I run with the taper?” and “Do they take FibaFuse™ or paper tape? What about fiberglass, adhesive, etc?”. Well here’s your answer:

  • Paper tape? Yup!
  • Fibafuse™ (aka fiberglass mesh tape)? You bet!
  • Fiberglass screen or adhesive? Nope.

Although paper and mesh tapes work like a dream in most tapers, unfortunately, their mechanisms do not allow for compatibility with fiberglass screen and adhesive tapes. Despite these slight limitations, the productivity increase that users report is huge when compared to hand taping. If you have any questions, get in touch! We’re always more than happy to help.

Tape Roll Sizes

The LEVEL5 automatic taper features a tape roll holder that can accept rolls up to 500ft in length.

Using Fibafuse™ Tape

LEVEL5’s automatic taper is preset at the factory for use with paper tape. If your preference is to use FibaFuse™, you may need to adjust the advancement needle slightly so that the mesh advances smoothly.
