Celebrating 10 Years Since Passing My Master Locksmiths Exam!

Today is my 10th anniversary of officially becoming a fully fledged Master Locksmith.  I also turned 40 this month so I have a lot to celebrate!

For those who don’t know about IKS Locksmiths, we are a family run local MLA Approved Locksmith in Barnet.

The Last 10 Years…..

So much has changed for me in the last 10 years since becoming MLA qualified, both on a personal and work level.

At the time my daughter was not even 1 year old and IKS Locksmiths hadn’t been born. I was working with Albert Rossetti from Woodside Locksmiths. I owe so much to Albert in terms of establishing myself as a professional, experienced locksmith.

Ten years later my daughter is starting secondary school and I now have a son who is about to go into juniors. Over the last 9 years IKS Locksmiths has been like the 5th member of our family. I started out with a smaller white van and my work was based at home. These days we have new branding and work as mobile locksmiths from a unit in Queens Industrial Estate in High Barnet. Having additional space makes operating much easier when is comes to holding stock and tools! Admittedly I may have gained a few wrinkles and grey hairs in the process! You can read here about how I started my Locksmith Business.

Was It Worth Becoming MLA Qualified?

Becoming qualified by the Master Locksmith Association was something that took considerable time and effort, both on my part and from Albert. I am forever grateful to him for entering me for the BLI exam whilst working for him. I couldn’t have asked for a better mentor. I have talked about this in one of my 1st Diary of a Locksmith posts, “How I Became a Fully Qualified Locksmith”. In this post you can read about what was involved in passing the MLA exam.

Becoming MLA Approved has been a real asset to my locksmith business and I would recommend it to anyone. You can read here about exactly what the MLA means to me as a locksmith.

Pride in My MLA Locksmith Status

I can’t help but feel proud of my companies MLA approved status. After all, only a small percentage of UK locksmiths have passed the exam. Here we explain; What is the MLA – Master Locksmith Association.

I should add that as well as the many unscrupulous locksmiths in the UK there are some very experienced locksmiths who are not MLA approved. Saying that I feel very strongly that being a member of the MLA has been a real support to me over the last 10 years in so many ways.

You can read here about the ethos behind IKS Locksmiths as a professional local locksmiths. Being MLA approved has been a very important part of establishing IKS Locksmiths as professional security specialists.

A Big Thank You!

I would like to thank Albert Rossetti, The Master Locksmiths Association, my family and friends and of course my customers for all the support they have given me over the last 10 years.

To those who have taken the time to leave reviews and share social media posts online it is very much appreciated. Reviews and shares make a great difference to our business as we rely very much on word of mouth.
